Congratulations and thank you to Lighthouse Interim Head of School Yanira Canizales and her sister and Lighthouse parent Claudia Aguilar. The two women have been honored by the California Milk Processor Board (got milk?) for making a difference in their schools, neighborhoods and communities. To recognize their efforts, got milk? will honor each mom at a special event and make a monetary donation of $1,000 to their community organizations to support continued growth and outreach of each program.

The women, who are sisters, were among eight mothers from around the state who were selected for the honor. They have chosen to give their award to Lighthouse Community Charter School, specifically to help fund the opening of a new school scheduled for fall of 2016.

Canizales and Aguilar will receive their awards from TV star Andrea Navedo in a Los Angeles ceremony.
