Summer School

A four-week Summer School Program will begin on Monday, June 3rd, for qualifying students who are currently enrolled in grades K-12 at both Lighthouse Community Public Schools (LCPS) — Lighthouse and Lodestar.

K-8 Summer School Program

The LCPS K-8 Summer Program provides students with additional academic instruction based on individual student needs beyond the regular school year. Students were selected based on academic assessments given during the school year. Important details are listed below: 

  • This is a REQUIRED program for students who were invited to attend. If your student is unable to attend in person, please contact our Family Engagement Coordinators to further discuss alternative arrangements.
  • Dates: June 3rd – June 28th (June 19th is a Holiday)
  • Class time: 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday – Friday
  • Classes will be held at the Lighthouse campus: 444 Hegenber Rd, Oakland CA 94621
  • Breakfast and Lunch will be provided at no cost for all students
  • Field trips will be once a week (Friday) and the last week of summer school on June 27.
  • Enrichment Classes will be offered (gardening, art, science, dance)

Please confirm your student’s commitment to attend the program by submitting this survey by Friday, April 26th.

The LCPS High School Summer Program will be from June 03 – June 28th, with no school on Wednesday, June 19th in honor of the national holiday, Juneteenth. The summer school program will include weekly field trips for K-8 students. Important details about field trip opportunities are listed below:

High School (9-12) Program

  • Credit recovery, Enrichment, and the Peralta Summer Institute will be available.
    • Peralta Summer Institute: allows students to explore career options and earn community college credit. This year’s classes include: Basic Electricity, Business, Automotive/Diesel, Computer Science, Emergency Medical Responder, Financial Literacy, Robotics, 2D Animation
    • Students hoping to enroll should submit this survey by Friday, March 29, 2024.
