Jeff Vasquez is the Assistant Principal of Instruction at Lighthouse Community Public Schools (Middle School). With more than 26 years in education, he has dedicated his career to creating the conditions for students to thrive, particularly in historically underserved communities.
Throughout his career as a teacher, instructional coach, and school leader, Jeff has partnered with educators to strengthen instruction, build positive school culture, and ensure that every student experiences rigorous, affirming learning. He believes the most successful classrooms have one thing in common: students feel seen, know they are loved, and are affirmed in who they are.
Jeff began his career in New York City, where he served as a founding middle school math teacher and helped build a nationally recognized school community. Along the way, he was named a semifinalist for the Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice, was featured in The Together Teacher by Maia Heyck-Merlin, and led a cohort of students to 100% proficiency in mathematics. While he is grateful for these milestones, he credits every success to the collective efforts of students, families, colleagues, mentors, and school leaders who worked alongside him.
At Lighthouse, Jeff partners with teachers and school leaders to strengthen instructional practice through coaching, data-informed decision making, and a shared commitment to educational equity. He is passionate about developing educators, cultivating leadership, and ensuring that every student has access to an excellent education.
