Mauricio is a dynamic and results-driven leader with a strong commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in education and in communities similar to the one where he was born and raised in Compton, California. With over a decade of experience in roles dealing with talent management, alumni engagement, community / corporate partnerships, and education, Mauricio has a proven track record of empowering individuals and organizations to reach their full potential.
Mauricio’s passion for fostering meaningful connections and creating opportunities for underserved populations is evident through his work in education, policy, and in nonprofit organizations with missions geared towards equity and opportunity. A former middle school teacher and first generation student who was the first in his family to attain a Bachelors and a Masters in Education, he understands what kind of staff members are needed in order to motivate and guide students to succeed.
As the Director of Talent at Lighthouse Community Public Schools, Mauricio plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing strategic initiatives to attract, retain, and develop high-quality educators who are dedicated to serving diverse communities. Previously, as the Director of Alumni & Community Engagement at Teach for America, Mauricio was instrumental in cultivating a robust network of 35K alumni and community partners across the Bay Area and driving impactful collaborations that supported educational equity in and outside the classroom.
