Denny Chavez

Denny was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. His parents were both born in El Salvador. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his BA in Psychology before entering the teaching profession through Teach for America, where he received his teaching credential in Special Education. Shortly after that, he began his role as a Dean of Students for a high school in Los Angeles, where he served students holistically for over four years. Driven by his passion for equity, student support, and holistic service, Denny then came to Lighthouse and Oakland to help the students of Oakland, CA, reach their fullest potential.
